Here in Northeast Tennessee, we live right smack in the middle of some of the best motorcycling roads in the country. It’s a veritable motorcycle playground. We can wake up in the morning and before lunchtime be riding at places like Deals Gap, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherohala Skyway, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Shenandoah Valley, or any one of dozens of other lesser known but equally exciting roads and areas. Motorcycling is exploding in popularity and more and more riders are traveling through our area on their way to destinations like Deals Gap or events like the Honda Hoot.

At Motorcycle Playground.com we want to give you the opportunity to explore some of our “little secrets,” roads that will be well worth the detour from your main route or make an excellent destination for a trip. There is something to offer almost every rider, from the “hardcore” sportbike rider to the “take-it-all-with-you-including-the-trailer” touring rider. Most riders have heard of the Blue Ridge Parkway and many plan to make it the featured part of a motorcycle vacation someday, but do they know where to stay while on their trip? Do they want to see some of the other great roads Western North Carolina has to offer? What about the best times to visit to avoid the road-clogging tourists or what to expect from the weather? These are all questions we hope to help answer. For all of you interested in Deal’s Gap, did you know there is another road in Northeast Tennessee that offers the same kind of excitement, a road built seemingly with modern sportbikes in mind? Does 489 curves get your heart pounding? If it does, see our page on US 421

When you think of Southwest Virginia, you might think of coalmines and tobacco fields. Instead, picture this: scenic, sweeping roads winding their way through beautiful farmland, around Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area, or through the Jefferson National Forest. Or how about switchbacking your way up Hwy 160 over Black Mountain and into Southeast Kentucky?

If you enjoy motorcycles, then you are likely to find information at Motorcycle Playground.com that will interest you. We ask you to visit often. We plan to update our site regularly, bringing you news and information on our regularly featured roads, as well as pictures and stories about our exploits in our never-ending search for new Playgrounds.

A Word About Safety: Unfortunately the sport of motorcycling can be dangerous. We urge you to take either the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Beginner Rider Course and/or Experienced Rider Course. Please, always wear full protective gear. Only you can be responsible for your personal safety; therefore, always ride defensively and ride within your abilities. Remember that crashes can happen at any time, often through no fault of your own. It’s best to be prepared and not need your gear, than to need it and not have it.
